Accessible Corinthos Channel

The Corinth Canal is a narrow, man-made waterway in Greece that connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea to the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. Carved through the Isthmus of Corinth, the canal stretches approximately 6.4 kilometers (4 miles) and has a width of just 21.4 meters (70 feet) at its narrowest point. This engineering marvel, completed in 1893, dramatically shortens the maritime journey by avoiding the lengthy detour around the Peloponnese peninsula. However, its limited width and depth restrict accessibility to small ships, yachts, and vessels under 58 feet in width. Modern cruise liners and large commercial ships are unable to pass through the canal, making it more of a scenic route and historical attraction than a major shipping channel. It's a popular destination for boat tours, offering stunning views of its steep limestone walls
